what is this?

The Peter Nicol Junior Open Squash Series is an innovative series of 5 bronze sanctioned tournaments played in 5 counties over the 2010/2011 season with an unbelieveable prize for those that do well!

why a series of 5 tournaments?

A unique series of 5 Bronze Sanctioned events that will get you ESR ranking points. In addition, series points will also be awarded based on finishing positions in each of the 5 events and added together as a cumulative series total. The top 4 in each age group will be invited to a free training day which will be run by Lee Drew with Paul Carter (see below for info about them!) and the top 2 will be invited to the ISS Canary Wharf Squash Classic for a finals match, a coaching session with Peter Nicol and a Q&A session with the top players (in 2010 it was with Peter Nicol, James Willstrop and Thierry Lincou, in 2011 its Nick Matthew) and a free ticket to watch the evening’s play.

This is a fantastic and unique prize, unlike any other available in junior squash in England.

your training day coaches are….

Lee Drew

Ardleigh Hall Leisure’s resident Head Coach is Lee Drew a former touring professional. Lee reached number 12 in England and was ranked within the top 45 in the world claiming the scalps of numerous world top 20 players and winning a number of professional events around the globe.

Lee was also Essex county champion in 2006 (the season he retired from the circuit). Since becoming a coach Lee has received the support and plaudits of some of the worlds leading coaches, including Malcolm Willstrop and Jonah Barrington.

Lee is also currently the Essex Under 19 coach, assistant East Region Coach and has recently coached on both the senior and junior National Squads.

 

Paul Carter

Paul is the East Regional Development Coach.  He is a former high performance and national coach, and is a former National champion and international top World 20 player.

how do I get series points?

Points will be awarded based on your finishing position at each event as follows:

Winner 20
Runner Up 16
3rd and 4th 13
5th to 8th 10
9th to 16th 7
17th to 32nd 3
